Palisades Mt. SillAccording to many Sierra Climbers, Mt. Sill has the best view from any summit in the Sierra Nevada, the best in the Palisades. The climbing via the Swiss Arete with it’s the excellent rock, and the spectacular views make this an outstanding climb. This three-day trip is suited to the climber with basic climbing skills and excellent physical conditioning. Day one brings us from the trailhead to Sam Mack Meadows and up to our base camp below Glacier Notch. Day two takes us to the summit of Mt. Sill and back to base camp. Day three brings us back down to the trailhead by early afternoon.

North Palisade  14,242 ft. & Polemonium Peak 14,080 ft.

North PalisadesNorth Palisade is the highest of the Palisade group at 14,242 ft. Climbed via the classic u-notch. Requiring both alpine ice and snow skills sets along with alpine rock climbing ability. With several pitches of ice and snow topped off with two pitches of rock makes this an exceptional climb to an infrequently visited summit. A climb you will not soon forget. You also have the option if time allows ascending little know Polemonium Peak, 14,080 ft. from the top of the U-notch. Another option for spectacular Sierran couloir climbing is the steeper V-notch with an ascent of Polemonium Peak with the descent route next to Mt. Sill give us a call to discuss all the options and skills required.

Thunderbolt Peak 14,003 ft.
North Couloir  Class 4 / 5.8 Summit Block

The last of the 14,000 ft. Peaks climbed in the Sierra Nevada. Climbed during a wild storm during the first ascent, a bolt of lighting left one of the first ascent climbers shaken; hence the name. The summit of Thunderbolt is a steep pillar of granite which done free rated at 5.8. Following the same route up the North Fork of Big Pine Creek to the base of the Palisade Glacier, we climb the next day via the Thunderbolt Glacier surmounting the bergschrund to the upper ridges above making our way over to the summit monolith.
