Mt. Whitney Summer Ascent Join SWS Mountain Guides on one of our most popular trips a guided climb of Mt. Whitney via the Mountaineers route (class 3-4). At 14,505 feet, Mt. Whitney is highest peak in the lower 48 states and as such is a great introduction to summer alpine climbing. This trip is a great climb for the beginning mountaineer or intermediate backpacker who wants to climb this peak with fantastic views of the East Face of Mt. Whitney and many other peaks in the Sierra’s. This route is a classic alpine route involving rock scrambling, cross-country hiking, and a short bit of roped climbing. The climb can be accomplished by anyone in good to excellent physical condition with basic backpacking skills. We will teach you the techniques you need to know to safety ascent Mt. Whitney via the Mountaineer’s Route. We will establish a high camp up the lesser traveled North Fork of Lone Pine Creek and make our summit bid the next day via the mountaineer’s route a classic 3/4 class route designed for first time climbers or experienced hikers. Spectacular views and exceptional climbing await the participants on this summer ascent. Space is limited to 8 clients and 2 guides. Permits and permit fees are included. Book early, permits are very limited on Mt. Whitney during the summer season.

Group Size: 6-8 clients with 2 guides – 1; 3/4 guide to client ratio
Experience Level: Beginners to Intermediate hikers, climbers, and mountaineer’s, No previous mountaineering experience is needed. Hiking and Backpacking experience is highly recommended.
