The Summit of Mt. Whitney is the highest point in the contiguous United States. Both the East Face and East Buttress take routes directly to the summit. Both routes are Sierra Classics. To climb these classics you are required to have solid rock climbing skills, desire and excellent physical conditioning for this three-day adventure on the East Face of Mt. Whitney. Day one is the approach hike to our base camp with review of technical climbing techniques. Day two starts early as we head for the summit via our chosen either the East Face or East Buttress and descend back to our base camp via the mountaineer’s route. Experience Level: Solid rock climbing skills, ability to follow 5.8, proper knots, belays, and excellent physical conditioning. Previous experience with climbing at altitude is helpful.

Mount Russell is a massive peak just north of Mount Whitney. Due to its proximity Mt. Whitney many routes and variations abound. We have chosen two routes the moderate East Arete and the more difficult but spectacular Fish Hook Arete, many more options are available for the summit of Mt. Russell.
