Guided Mt. Shasta Ski Mountaineering Descents
Mt Shasta Ski Descent – Avalanche Gulch
West Face Ski Descent Option: May 12-13
2 Days / 1 Night / $695.00
Described as the “Finest Ski Descent in California” and listed as one of the “50 Classic Backcountry Ski Descents in North America. A Mt. Shasta ski descent is considered a must do for any real backcountry skier. It offers the Advanced to Expert Alpine Skier a descent of over 7,000 vertical ft. from the summit down on a variety of routes including the “Classic” Avalanche Gulch Route.
Our two-day Mt Shasta Ski Descent, on the avalanche gulch route, follow much the same itinerary as our two-day Shasta Summit Climb. On day one the group will tour up and establish a high camp where they will learn the necessary skills for climbing the mountain. On day two we will start early and ascent to the Summit of Mt. Shasta for a full 7,000 vertical back to the trailhead.
Though Avalanche Gulch is considered a classic, it isn’t the only great route that Mt. Shasta has to offer. The West Face (scheduled for May 12-13), the Hotlum Bolum Ridge, the Wintun Snowfield, and the East Face all offer unique challenges, fantastic lines, and their own varying degree challenge. A carry-over and ski down the North-side can be arranged as well for the backcountry adventurer who is in excellent condition and desires an exceptional ski adventure! Give us a call at 888.797.6867 to discuss current conditions and design your own custom ski descent of Mt. Shasta.
