Hotlum Bolum Ridge Our intermediate mountaineering ascent of the Hotlum-Bolum Ridge Route is designed to increase climbers experience on a moderate alpine routes found on Mt. Shasta and other Northwest Peaks. Intermediate climbers will experience a more technical and steeper route to the summit of Mt. Shasta, previous Ice Ax and Crampon use is necessary. Includes instruction and review of the following techniques; Ice ax self belay, self arrest, glissading, basic crampon use, with the introduction of the following intermediate techniques; use of the rope, team self arrest, quick safety belays, snow and/or ice anchors, and rope team travel. Additional topics may include, pacing on steeper terrain, route selection, alpine weather, and alpine route decision making.  An excellent course & climb for the next step in your alpine education.

Experience Level: Intermediate mountaineers in excellent physical condition. Previous experience in crampon, ice axe use, and basic rope skills needed or Basic Mountaineering Clinic as a prerequisite.
