Join SWS Mountain Guides on what has to be one of the best trips for first-time mountaineers, our guided Mt Langley climb. At 14,032 feet, Mt. Langley is the Southern most of the California 14,000 foot mountain and the 11th highest peak in the state. Langley’s broad gradual shoulder offers good routes for beginners mountain climbers with short sections of 3rd class rock climbing.
Our basic climb of Mt Langley starts from the Horseshoe Meadows area and hikes up to the lakes at the base of Old Army Pass. The climb starts early morning the second day where we cross over New Army Pass and up the South shoulder of the mountain. A couple short sections of 3rd class rock leads to the summit plateau. We then reverse our tracks back to camp and head all the way back to the trailhead to finish the second day.
While this is a long hike it is a technically easy trip that is perfect for someone who is an entry level mountain climber. Additionally, it a must do climb for those starting out on their quest to climb all the California 14ners.
